Welcome to Coast + Canvas!
I’m so glad you’re here. My name is Erica, and I’m the owner and designer behind Coast + Canvas.

I was born and raised in Myrtle Beach, SC. I have always had a creative heart from before I can remember. As a child, if I was not drawing, I was building something out of anything I could find around the house… boredom does that to a kid! By the time I was in high school I knew that I wanted to explore a creative career. I settled on graphic design and graduated with my bachelor's from Coastal Carolina University in 2015.

From there, I stepped into the world of marketing, a field I truly enjoy. Still, I found myself longing for the freedom to create for myself rather than just for others.

That’s when I began experimenting with apparel design—teaching myself to screen print by hand out of my attic. But I continued to struggle in finding a niche or a purpose for what I wanted to do. I knew it needed to be something that felt dear to my heart. Instead, fear of people, judgment, and failure kept me stuck. I gave up on the dream and simply went through the motions of life with no real feeling of purpose.

Then in 2024 I faced a heartbreaking loss that left me so broken, the only direction I could look was up. For the first time in my life, I felt God pulling on my heart in a way I couldn’t ignore. At 32, I walked into my very first church service—and I haven't looked back. Since then, my life has been transformed. My faith has brought me joy, peace, and healing. It has strengthened my marriage, reshaped my relationships, given me confidence, and renewed my sense of purpose. I finally feel that I am exactly where I am meant to be. 

Coast + Canvas is the result of that journey. My mission is to share my faith, my heart, and my creativity in a way that brings joy and encouragement to others. Much of my inspiration also comes from the beauty of God’s creations—the ocean, the coast, and the outdoors that remind me daily of His presence. Being able to blend my love for design, my faith, and my love of nature feels like the greatest blessing. I’m trusting God with this path, and I pray that through Coast + Canvas, you’ll feel the same joy and inspiration that I’ve found. My hope is that you will join me on this journey. I can't wait to see where it goes!
